Docklands: A Museum for Brooklyn Heights
Student Work, 2005
Design Critic: Maryann Thompson

This student project called for a museum and archive of maritime history at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge. Sited on the defunct Pier 1, the museum extends the artificial ground of the pier, reaching out into the East River. Layered ground planes blur the distinctions between landform, building, pier, and water. A continuous path leads the visitor along a timeline of local history and through a series of layered facades that incorporate the building into the outdoor space of the planned Brooklyn Bridge Park.
